I bought my Van! and called her Sophie.
After thinking about it and dreaming about it and looking though all the ads on the internet my brain was ready to explode.
There are so many to choose from and yet so little, the market is fast and brutal.
Vans are sold super quick and i had to act fast.
One morning i opened my FB marktetplace and there she was! i send a message, the price was fair and the guy on the phone seemed reliable.
I immediatly called my Dad, he is my rock when it comes to buying cars, i know what it is what i want. he knows if the cars are any good.
We made an appointment and went to meet her, i knew i wanted a Van and i knew i wanted to do Vanlife but when i finally met her i thought she was massive!
The guy who was selling her was a very nice accomadating guy, and after looking at her from all angles, we went for a testdrive.
My Dad got behind the wheel, because we were in the middle of Rotterdam and i had never driven a Van this big nor had a lot of experience with an automatic vehicle.
He knows how the car is supposed to react and feel and knows how to test things out, these first minutes sitting in the passengers seat, i was so ready to get going! just build her out, leave my current life and just drive into the horizon.
There we're a couple of thing wrong with her, we smelled exhaust inside the cabin but my Dad knew why that was and it could be "easily" fixed, and her sliding door didn't shut all the way.
We agreed on the price and the service he would provide and i told him i wanted to think about it a couple more hours.
I would call him that night to let him know, i was very excited but at the same time freaked out! she was so big and it got very real all of a sudden.
On our way home, I contacted my carshop guy to ask about the exhaust problem, he gave me a price indication and my Dad and i talked about it.
We were both very excited and when i got home i called the man to tell him i would buy Sophie from him.
When we went to pick her up, my Dad drove her home and i drove behind him realising how humangous she is! driving her in the Netherlands, she is so massive!
That night i picked up a friend and we went for joyrides to get to know Sophie, She is so powerfull and the thought i had of having the responsibility over this massive vehicle quickly turned into joy and a feeling of security.
She is so massive and powerfull that it feels like all i have to do is sit there and she will take me wherever i want to go without any hassle.
In the weeks following she went to the shop, they fixed the exhaust problem and gave her full service so she was fresh and ready to go.
My Dad and i washed and waxed her so she would shine in the sun.
And she has been shining outside my house ever since, everyday i get to know her better, and everyday we go on more and more adventures.
Soon it'll be just my dogs, Sophie and I.
And i can not wait!
